This week was a short one, so we didn’t have Adversary L BUT we did have J.P. Morgan come in on Wednesday. Employees from the Asset Management division visited to talk with us about the different jobs they have in Marketing. Along with the amazing campus recruiters Lauren and Bianca, we welcomed Grace, Barbara, and Megan. The setting was very informal and we got into groups as the J.P. Morgan employees rotated. I had the privilege of speaking with everyone but Barbara, a writer for Investment Insights. With each employee we were able to ask questions and hear about their careers, paths after college, and their advice. Grace works in Institutional Marketing, essentially coming up with marketing strategies with CIOs (Chief Investment Officers) of clients as well as J.P. Morgan. Megan works in the Digital Marketing department where she manages apps used by investment bankers, sales people, etc. In her job, she works with multiple groups to complete a project.
Based on all of the discussions we had, we received some good advice overall:
1. Put your GPA on your resume (sound familiar?) 2.Keep up with the news 3.Don’t close yourself off to opportunities because you might like something that you never imagined 4. Maintain relationships with people, they could be the reason you get your next job
Unfortunately, most of the internship applications are closed, however there are few still open!
