What does Marketing Society mean to you?
When I first came to NYU, I really had no clue what "marketing" entailed. My perception of marketing was solely limited to Mad Men Style advertising and selling ShamWows. Now looking back I'm so incredibly grateful that I stumbled into Marketing Society and got the chance to see all the different, amazing, unique and intriguing niches and parts of Marketing, the different fields to go into, and the countless amazing companies that represent the industry. Without Marketing Society, I definitely would not have become a Marketing major, nor would I be fortunate enough to be genuinely excited and passionate about the work that I do and will continue to do after Graduation.
What’s your favorite part of being on the board?
This being my last year on the board, it's sad to think about graduating and leaving Marketing Society, but this year in particular always makes me smile when I think about it. I feel such an amazing sense of passion and community among the e-board. We've gotten along so well this year, in a way that I could have never imagined. And it's been so amazing to get the chance to connect with and learn from all the other ambitious and talented board members who share the same passion and interest for the field of Marketing as I do.
What kind of marketing do you want to do?
I'm returning to American Express in the Consumer Business Unit. I'd love to return to a Product Management team, because it's amazing to really "own" a product and get to see and fully understand the ins and outs and every single part of the process, from the creative parts to the quantitative analysis. It really makes you appreciate the product more and gives you a great holistic view of everything.
Have you held any cool internships?
I absolutely LOVED my summer at Amex. I got to work on the Starwood Account (and got to travel to Connecticut and Chicago for the first times!) and help do market research and product development. But my internship with BuzzBack Market Research sophomore year, was fantastic! We have so many random accounts, so every week I was coming home with the best samples, from Ferrero chocolates and Nutella, to Mondelez Oreos, to 3M Spackle, to pamphlets about random medications from AstraZeneca!
What advice can you bestow to our awesome MktSoc members?
To be open and vigilant! There are so many unique and interesting marketing opportunities and they may not be exactly what you were looking for, but getting exposure to different things will really help you better understand what it is that you want to do with Marketing in the long run.
