Today we have a guest blogger, Dan (Director of Community Service), who wrote a little recap of the amazing community service Marketing Society did over this past weekend.
"For February's community service event, we went over to the KEEN Recreation Center on 54th and 2nd and volunteered to play with disabled kids! We had a really fun time and made a few friends along the way. Before the kids got to the center, each of us were paired with a child and given a profile on them to find out their interests, passions, and fun little quirks.
The center was well prepared with balls, a puppet theater, and loads of toys for the kids and us to play with. I got paired with a great little guy named Benjamin. He was a cool 6-year-old who was new there. At the beginning he was a little scared of all the activity, but he eventually joined in. I ended up out of breath chasing him everywhere! The other nine of us also had a great time getting to know the kids and played everything from soccer to Legos.
After the event, a few of us stayed in the area and got dinner, Insomnia cookies, and haircuts together (random, I know).
Stay tuned for March's community service event, it should be just as awesome!"
