On Wednesday, February 15th, the Marketing Society welcomed Cuahtemoc Sandoval, an NYU alumnus and former co-President of The Marketing Society. He stopped by to tell us a bit about his background, but mostly to provide some great insights on how to create an effective portfolio and resume. Considering how few people in the room had ever even made a portfolio for themselves, his advice was very informative and well received. "Keep it visual, show don't tell," reads the headline on one of his presentation slides, which just about sums up the message he was trying to get across.
C-Moc then proceeded to show us various examples of websites which we can use to build our own online portfolios (his powerpoint slides including these examples are available here). After this, he started talking about resumes, and how more recently people have been using sites such as vizualize.me or visual.ly to show the information on their resume in a more creative and visual way.
Finally, he opened his presentation up to questions. Overall, he gave a lot of great advice, in an informative and interesting presentation. If you missed this event, you definitely missed out! Once again, you can download his powerpoint slides from our website, I highly recommend it!
